A docu-drama about the great family of bankers. Mayer Amschel Rothschild leaves the Frankfurt Ghetto in 1756 as a twelve-year-old orphan and learns some of the few professions that are allowed for people of the Jewish faith: coin trade and banking transactions. In 1811, he pays a substantial sum to Frankfurt and in return the Jewish community receives citizen rights. Mayer does not pursue profit maximization alone, he also contributes to overcoming the discrimination against Jewish people. Under the national socialist regime, the Rothschild family became a target of antisemitic propaganda and persecution. Even today, their name ignites conspiracy theories and smear campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This documentary tackles a difficult and important subject, which the production company, in my opinion, realized in a tasteful and dignified manner.
I played Jacob Rothschild, the youngest of five sons of Mayer Amschel Rothschild. In addition to the great costume, some of my highlights included a carriage ride and a confrontation with the French border control. Sitting in an authentic carriage and being able to check the time with a pocket watch, felt as if I had traveled back in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
